Ayurveda has different traditions in Kerala and kalarichikilsa is one such unique tradition. A Kalari guru is not only a trained movement artist but also well-versed in ayurveda , a doctor who treats people with diseases and other ailments.Kalarichikilsa was developed out of a need to treat and heal the injured kalaripayattu warriors. Today, this form of massage is the focus of renewed interest as growing numbers of people are attracted to its healing and rejuvenating effects. Kalari massage includes techniques of balancing the chakras or energy centers and saptha dhatu (seven tissues in the human body—plasma, blood, muscle, fat, bone, bone marrow and semen), stimulation ofnadisuthra points (ayurvedic acupressure), working with marma or vital points, and the awakening of prana (life force).
Kalari treatment is ideally suited for ailments such as back pain, slipped disc, sciatica, spondylitis, arthritis ,migraine, gout, frozen shoulder, nervous weakness etc. At "Sandram" we offer you a variety of revitalising programmes that utilise ayurvedic kalari massage, yoga therapy, marma therapy, panchakarma etc- from therapies directed at specific ailments to rejuvenation therapies for guests who want to pamper themselves with a good massage. In coordination with the ayurvedic centre, we also have yoga and meditation classes for interested guests.
