RESTAURANT
The History restaurant offers cuisine that reflects the cultural influences of Cochin - Portuguese, Dutch, English, Arab, Syrian Christian and Jewish.
The Terrace grill offers the catch of the day and a host of grilled specialities, all served up with some splendid views over the harbour..
Here's a special from the Brunton Chefs. Steak Fernandes is based on an old Anglo-Indian recipe (for more recipes, visit our Secret Cookbook pages in the Traveller section).
You need:
Sirloin or fillet steak
French mustard
Steak pepper
lkg Onion
Red and green peppers
Mushrooms
Red wine
Whisky/Drambuie
Coat sirloin or fillet steak with french mustard and add steak pepper to taste. Fry a large onion until browned, add steaks and cook 5-8 minutes each side. Add chopped peppers (red and green) and mushrooms (button or sliced). Add a glass of red wine and splash of spirit-whisky/Drambuie/any liqueur. Cook for 2-3 minutes. Remove steaks and add cream of liquor to pan. Pour over steaks.
THE ARMOURY - ( BAR )
The Armoury Bar is much more than a place to drink. The harbour views are intoxicating, and for those who prefer milder refreshment, there's even a selection of fine teas.
BILLIARD TABLE
The broad, high corridor that rings the grassy central courtyard is an ever-shifting kaleidoscope. The reception area gives way to a lounge overhung with punkahs, then on to a billiard table. Turn a corner and you find yourself in an English tea room, the perfect place to take in a cuppa and soak in the atmosphere..
